Hi
Table qusrsys/qcase256 can be used in DDS to sort alphabetically and ignore the case. (ie A=a in the sort sequence)
Can this be done in an embedded SQL statement? For example,
Exec Sql Declare cursorJ77 CURSOR For
Select *
From File77
order by AgcmDATE, Name
For Read Only;
Exec Sql Open cursorJ77;
AgcmDate is a date field. Name is an alpha field with mixed case letters. The above statement returns records in an order like:
2009-01-06 knight
2009-01-06 Bowman
Unfortunately, knight comes before Bowman.
This is a join file and each key field comes from a different file. So I can't use DDS to sort the file. (Key fields from different files are not allowed.) I was hoping an SQL statement could do this. (And yes, I am trying to avoid using OPNQRYF.)
Thank you
