I believe that you can do something like this;

1.  refer to one of the files as file1   
2.  refer to the other as file 2
3.  prior to the compile ovrdbf  file2 lib/file
4.  comile the pgm
5.  you may want to put the compile instructions in the program comments so that it is apparent to the next pgmr.........

Subject: Compiling a program with two files having the same name

I have to populate a new file in a new library with data from an old
file in an old library.  The file names are the same, but the field
names are different/  Both are externally defined.

Great excuse to use EXTFILE() keyword!  :)

This machine is at v4r4.  :(

I thought I knew how to do this, but I can see now that I don't.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
