If you DSPLY in batch it goes to QSYSOPR and waits.

However, it might be that you're submitting your job instead of calling it.
Are you executing the program via SBMJOB? My guess is that a DSPLY in a
batch job will attempt to DSPLY to the current job and will fail because
it's in batch. Try executing the program with a CALL command.

I once (and only once) wrote the (in)famous "Hello World" program in
Java. But only after sitting through a class (no pun intended).

Adam already indicated that the question was ill-formed. Did the program
compile, or is the compilation crashing? If the program compiled, what
error message(s) do you get?

As far as the rules are concerned, the RPG Manual might be a good place
to start; in fact, next to Barbara, Simon, and Scott, it's the gospel. For
V5R4 you can download a copy of the manual and various other useful
reference guides. If you are just learning RPG (any flavor) the manual is a
lousy place to start.

Hope this helps.
