I wouldn't mind hearing the justification of why using output
parameters is bad.

Does it really matter? Not going to change your mind!!! If you must know.
I said that it was a personal belief that it was bad design, not that using
them was "bad".

In my mind, I expect the parm list to be entry. Not saying that it must be
that way, but that's just how I view it. If you are expecting something
back from a procedure, then that to me is a function. A function returns a
value. Heck I've used output parms too because it was the quickest
easiest change to an existing procedure.

Answer me this! A procedure always returns by value? You cannot return an
address?
