Sure it will. IBM SMTP server/MSF allows the use of "external mail server" if he's referring to an external mail relay. I guess we never got a clear definition of what the OP meant as "external mail server".

IBM SMTP won't allow other things becoming more common, though, such as authorization or SSL.
