"some refinements"

Uh-huh. The kind that make it no longer work? *Those* refinements? <grin>

Are you retrieving into a based data-structure? Is the file being
overridden? Did you check that the file is actually open (and didn't crash
on a previous OPEN op-code, if used)? If you do a SysReq-3 and check open
files, is the *correct* file open? What program/procedure is sending the PNS
error?

Anybody ever encounter anything like this? A program works fine last
week, but I recompile it today, and it gets a "pointer not set" error
when it chains a record from a file.

It's the mixed-language program from last week, and I only recompiled it
so that I could run it in the debugger, thereby adding some refinements.
