Well, the P99.filename1 field was still valid, since you declared it
with:
D P99 E DS Extname(Filename)
D QUALIFIED

It just didn't have anything to do with the input/output fields defined
by the F-spec.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the ability in V6R1 to specify and
F-spec that doesn't generate any I-specs/O-specs. If you'd done that, I
think the compiler would have complained that you didn't specify the P99
DS on the READ and WRITE statements.
