subject: RE: Identity column restarting at 1 after recompile
I've hit this myself at a prior job.
Basically an issue between the way i5/OS and Aldon interact. The identity
column current value is
stored in the table object. When you create a new version, the value gets
reset to zero. But the
value doesn't get updated when the records are copied back, unless it's a
"generate always" but in
that case, you get new identity values.
I ended up creating a RESETTBLID command that I could run as part of a post
install.
If you'll on a later version (7.4+) of Aldon, check to see you have the
"Try available update for
object replace" option turned on at the Global, Application, and/or release
level.
That may help...as Aldon will try to use the Alter Table command instead of
creating a new object and
copying the data.
