I've hit this myself at a prior job.

Basically an issue between the way i5/OS and Aldon interact. The identity column current value is
stored in the table object. When you create a new version, the value gets reset to zero. But the
value doesn't get updated when the records are copied back, unless it's a "generate always" but in
that case, you get new identity values.

I ended up creating a RESETTBLID command that I could run as part of a post install.

If you'll on a later version (7.4+) of Aldon, check to see you have the "Try available update for
object replace" option turned on at the Global, Application, and/or release level.

That may help...as Aldon will try to use the Alter Table command instead of creating a new object and
copying the data.

Subject: Identity column restarting at 1 after recompile

We just had to add a new column to a sql table and after the file was
recompiled we noticed that when new rows are inserted, the identity column
is reseeded with a starting value of 1. We assumed it would work like it
does in Sql Server and not reseed unless we told it to. I can't find
anything in the IBM documentation that refers to this. I know that we
could
add a "start with" value on the create table statement and hardcode the
next
value any time we have to modify the table, but there seems like there
should be a better way. If it makes any difference, we use Aldon as our
change management and normally just add the new column to the table and
promote it.

Thanks for any help.
