This looks like a different solution than what the OP asked for - but it also seems workable - he was asking, it seems, about getting text from the Word doc into RPG and displaying on green screen - at least my green bias makes it look that way. ;-)

STRPCO could probably do something similar to that - execute a Save As to a location in the IFS as text, then use IFS APIs to read the text from there.

We have a product called Office Integrator - originally meant to replace mail merge of Office Vision - can do remote commands on PCs too. OP can call us at 1.800.RJS.SOFT or email sales@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - might get more info of a tech nature at the latter address.

Craig, as to the &LOCN variable - it COULD point to a network file share, then it is the same for everyone and there is no need to have it locally - it could even be in the form of \\DNS-name\shared-folder\word-doc.doc

I have done this for a project in our warehouse.

The only way I could resize the window properly was to use HTMA:
Here is the CLP:
CHGVAR VAR(&EXECUTE) VALUE(&LOCN *TCAT &PANEL *TCAT +
'.hta')
STRPCO
MONMSG MSGID(IWS4010)
STRPCCMD PCCMD(&EXECUTE) PAUSE(*NO)

The HTA calls the HTML which is the word document saved in HTML.

This help directory (&LOCN) must reside on every PC using this, which is a
problem if you have a lot of users though.

HTH,

Craig

text, which is stored on Word, bring this help text onto the RPG screen
display?
Thank you,
