That's not supported.

Try suing EXISTS and a correlated sub query:

update bankinst A
SET A.QIRCAL = 'A'
WHERE A.QHCLVL = '4' AND A.QHFAX = 'O'
and exists (select *
from BANKHEDR B
where A.QISTCD=B.QHSTCD AND
A.QIAREA=B.QHAREA AND
A.QIBANK=B.QHBANK AND
A.QIIGRP=B.QHHGRP
)
