A lot of options you suggest sound great to you, but why should RPG be
more turned into Java, Java already exists, use it where it makes sense,
and use RPG where it makes sense. I don't care that the whole structure is
returned I use the parts I care about and the system cleans up the rest as
was mentioned in an earlier email,

a GC makes the coding and usage of a procedure library much easier.
people post often that they use Java methods from RPG to do things
like create PDF documents or read from spreadsheet files. RPG
procedures and service programs are good. but arguably not good
enough because we have to use a GC language to get the rich
functionality we need.
