Thanks. I see that the XML for that small example does not have
repeating elements. All the examples that use XML that does contain
repeating elements use arrays or data structure arrays. The example
on page 826 is simply loading a single element into a variable or the
CURRENT occurrence of the MODS.
Page 824 explicitly states that tables and MODS are "non-array
variables" so I presume this behaviour (i.e., the different treatment
of MODS and data structure arrays) is by design.
