Their goal isn't necessarily new i5 sales. They are looking to further
benefit existing customers and allow them to continue to grow. For proof
you can do some searches on ITJungle and see that TPM has reported on that
based on direct words from Mark Shearer's mouth.

It ain't so. Not according to George Farr - who as the IBMer in
charge of that whole arena should probably know!

George was here at the Tech Conference this week and talked openly
about the work going on to determine what the next version of RPG would
look like.
Things like complete free-form etc. were openly discussed. If I
recall correctly, iSeries News published a piece recently by George on
the future of RPG. Jim Herring from Rochester has also reaffirmed the
commitment to RPG in recent months.

There is one particular idiot (sorry I mean IBMer) who _is_ going
round making statements such as this pertaining to both RPG and COBOL.
I would not call him "senior" and I do not believe he is representing
any official IBM position. Just promoting his own pet product as the
future direction.

i5 sales have dropped by more than 10% the last 6 quarters that Farr and
Herring have been in charge. I vote that the idiot be given a chance to run
things.
