however, I think I will get the same problem. Not necessarily the same
code, but a different one.
The problem is NOT that the CPF5020 is being generated, (the program
continues on its merry way, after all that's I'm surmising that's how
%found works ) but how can I remove it from the program log.

One solution is to put the SFLNXTCHG keyword in the DDS for the subfile
but
DO NOT condition it on an indicator. This will ALWAYS mark ALL subfile
records as changed.

Then replace your loop with a readc loop. You will read all records
written
because they have all "changed". This prevents you having to worry about
whether a particular record was written with a particular RRN. you can
simply readc until eof.
