Where this gets awkward is when you need to join a "remote" table with a
"local" table. DB2 does not allow for connections to multiple hosts to be open
concurrently...... As far as I know, the only solution is to

CONNECT TO REMOTESYS
create table qtemp/mytable as (
select * from rmtlib/rmttbl ) with data

Then

CONNECT RESET
select * from loclib/loctbl a inner join
qtemp/mytable b on (a.k1=b.k1)

Not very efficient, but at least it works....

True - but they have to be sure set up an RDB directory entry for the other
system - that is easy. And this technique does NOT use DDM, just so no one is
confused. It does use a SET CONNECTION kind of thing in embedded SQL - easy.
You can even try things out in interactive SQL.

You could use sql connecting to different as/400 system and do
processing on that file. You would need to create SQL Package for that.

You can do DSPPFM on the DDM file to see what is in there or you can use
DBU to view what is in the DDM file.

Does anyone know how to create a ddm file on another AS400 that will let
you access the data using SQL or query? We have 2 Iseries and mutiple
ddm files on both iseries. However, you can not query the data in any
of the ddm files.

Thanks
