Good point. It would be very interesting to see if an RPG framework
could be produced by a vendor as open source and then have them make
their money on support - Zend seems to be doing it successfully with
PHP though that is up one more level into the actual language. I
wish I had a spare month or two because I know I could put together
most of an initial framework based on bits and pieces of code I have
collected over the years. Anyone want to pay professional services
$$ to have a prototyped thick client built for their next gen app?
Really, that's what could make this whole thing happen is if a large
company was willing to fund the project for their own needs and make
it open source.
