I see the :) in the original note -- but just in case someone is reading 
this chain of notes and thinking poorly of system values and i5/OS -- 
QYEAR is not exactly a system value that should be used in isolation.  The 
system also provides system values of QCENTURY, QYEAR, QMONTH, and QDAY so 
that one can get an unambiguous view of the current date.  And of course 
the system value QDATETIME brings them all together (along with QHOUR, 
QMINUTE, and QSECOND).
