The DATFMT() keyword in the DDS for a physical file only controls how that value is displayed. It acts in a way comparable to the way the EDTCDE() keyword.
True - except that for files there is always a default of DATFMT(*ISO) in place in the event that you don't specify a format yourself. So in effect every date field always has a format specified.
