For example, I still have to (don't laugh) deal with the 36 environment. All of the new stuff that I do is in IV, but the II stuff still has to be maintained. That II code may, one day, have to access that new table with the date data type. But even then what I do is write an interface program in IV which is called by the II; the interface passes back what the II program needs (and can understand). So even a "mixed" environment excuse isn't a very good one.
