Jeff, Are you sure that the variables names aren't used anywhere else? At v5r3/v5r4 IBM did a better job of enforcing what was allowed to be used as a host variable. IIRC, v5r3 was very picky. With v5r4, IBM added some enhancements that allowed previously disallowed stuff. You can find some discussions about this in the archives. Just sure on the message ID you are seeing.
