I do this with an RPGLE program and RUNRMTCMD. I use transaction information
generate by the iSeries application and use RUNRMTCMD to invoke a program on
the client. The client performs the signature capture process (created 2-4
.bmp or .tif files, depending on the application) and transfers the files to
the IFS. I currently use FTP, but am considering changing to data queues or
to direct saves (across the WAN) to the IFS. The .bmp/.tif files have the
transaction identifier in the file name, so it's easy for my iSeries process
to associate the signature capture fles with a specific transaction.

Let me know if you would like more information.

Thanks Richard,

Yep. Just let the device do its trick and make it store an image on the
IFS.
What we would need is the reference to the file stored (to be able to
check the correct ending of this process and to be able to present the image
again) to be stored in the transaction record .
That makes that we need to initiate this 'device trick' PC Activity from a
5250 session or Browser (webfacing) to give the reference to store with or
to get the reference back.

Our missing link is 'What fool proof way exist to initiate this with the
possibilitie to send/retrieve parameters'.

Eduard.

I would imagine you would purchase a topaz or welch-allyn signature
capture device and then write some VB or Java code to take the generated
image and store it into the IFS on the iSeries if you plan to keep the
image.

The rest will be up to your own hands and minds :-)

Richard,

Thank you for your offer.
This time we prefer to get to an solution with our own hands/minds.
There is no doubt that we can achieve that.
I was only searching for more/other way's of solving the problem so we can
get to a better solution.
If you can points us ways, and I'm certain you can, I would be must
