Don,

here's a direction:

use an SQL JOIN and the COALESCE or IFNULL clause.

You can do this either in a view (=logical file created by SQL) or with
embedded SQL.

One caveat: if you use the view in an RPG program, it won't be sorted
IIRC.

Join Files

Hi All: I have set up a join file on 2 physical files and am
successfully getting the information I need with the following
exception.

When I have a record in the primary file that does not have
a record in the secondary, I still want to retrieve the primary record.
Is this possible using a Join Logical and if so how and if not is there
a better way to accomplish this?

I have tried searching the archives but the only thing I
found was discussions on using keys from primary and secondary and not
anything about the problem I am having?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
