Handling the execute errors looks like the most sensible route so far.
The API is overkill for what I need to do.

The Statement is dynamic, but the Prepare doesn't perform all the
validation I need.  If the SQL Statement contains a column
that does not
exist in the table, that error isn't picked up until the Execute.

Any other thoughts?
