Mike, fwiw, I've run into that issue when I needed a separate null field (as mentioned by someone else), or in regards to scoping. If you have fields in that data structure that are defined differently elsewhere in your program, I believe that would cause an issue as well. I can compile cleanly another program using the same method and files just fine. On 8/9/06, Mike <koldark@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
The file is in the library list and is found (tried that). We are on V5R3 and should be up to date on PTFs. midrange.com cc Subject 08/09/2006 10:47 Variable X not defined or not AM usable Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@midrang e.com> I am working on a problem and I just can't see what is wrong. I am using SQL to get some data. I have the reciever variable defined as D gResultDs E DS ExtName(NCMASTP) and the fetch statement is C/EXEC SQL C+ FETCH C1 INTO :gResultDS C/END-EXEC When I compile the SQL precompiler tells me: "SQL0312 Position 24 Variable GRESULTDS not defined or not usable." Now I know I have done this before at my previous job, but I am not sure what I am missing. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas? I assume it is something stupid I am doing.... -- Mike Wills http://mikewills.name - Blog http://theriverbendpodcast.com - Podcast -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l. -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l .-- Mike Wills http://mikewills.name - Blog http://theriverbendpodcast.com - Podcast
