Yup...and I expect that's a common story...especially in the midwest... Don in DC At 02:40 PM 7/12/2006 -0400, you wrote:
I have several customers with no IT staff that would not know the answer if IBM called, and would "presume" their code is current. All were offered modernization projects, especially around Y2k. All said " if it's not broke....". Also working with a small software co - they have approx 8 Advanced 36 or early 170's running s36ee. Their annual IT budget is ZERO (maybe hdw maintenance...), but have consistently purchased new hardware every 6 to 9 years (from IBM). Every year a few more upgrade, and these are the stragglers. There is a native version of their pkg for 5 years so that's not the problem. When it's too slow, too full, or too worn out - they upgrade. jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don" <dr2@xxxxxxxx> To: "RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries" <rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 1:56 PM Subject: Re: Death of RPG38 and RPG36 -and- more! > > Jim, > > it might also be interesting to see how many shopped didn't/don't know > they're running this old stuff. > > Don in DC > > At 01:05 PM 7/12/2006 -0400, you wrote: >>like officevision, which ibm extended at least once, but ibm has certainly >>put the 1st nail in the coffin....at let shops know what's coming.
