Is pretty easy, just not intuitive.

Even if RPG allow you to do like(%size(%edtcde(myNumFld:'X')), you will
still encounter the decimal point and - sign problem. Edit code 'X'
does not do any format ==> the like(%size(%edtcde(myNumFld:'X')) will
also result in 10 for pack field of 10p2.

Subject: RE: Easy way to define a DS char subfield the same
sizeassomenumericfield?

Lim,

Thanks, I figured I could rig something up using multiple data
structures.

I've not tested it, but while I assume it would work I don't think it
would fit the definition of "Easy" originally asked for.

In addition, I'm not sure it would work if myNumFld was defined as 10p2
and the char value I wanted to see was '12.25-'.

Again, not a big deal, in this I've gotten rid of the DS altogether, I
just wondered if there was an "easy" way for future reference.
