I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes Scott, but I was replying to your answer of making the DIM size equal to the SFLPAGE size. YOUR response was WRONG for HIS question and I (as well as others) gave the reason why. PM is it possible? Please respond to RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries <rpg400-l@midrang e.com> > Sorry Scott - definitely NOT feasible. > If I'm loading a page at a time > SFLSIZE = SFLPAGE = 15 This question was originally asked by Charles St-Laurent. Maybe I'm missing something, but... that's not you, is it, Alan? The question was if it's possible to put a key on a subfile so he can check if there's already a record there with the same zip code. That ALSO wouldn't work in a page-at-a-time scenario, because the key would only view the current page (if such a thing existed, which it doesn't.) Not only that, the array idea WOULD work with a single page load (whereas the key-on-the-subfile technique wouldn't) as long as the total file size is less than 32767. You simply wouldn't clear the array for each page. You'd only clear it when loading the first page. With all due respect, if I try to help someone else, don't tell me that my suggestion is bad because it doesn't match YOUR requirements. If you have your own question, feel free to ask it, but my message was in regards to Charles' question, not a question that was in your mind that you didn't even ask. -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
