RE: Changing a PF

If you change the DDS & execute CHGPF using the modified DDS it will
perform the same as an SQL ALTER TABLE directive.  & under the covers
either way basically creates a temp table, builds the new table &
copies/inserts the data into the "new" copy.  I would suspect that not
much difference in runtime would occur.

Need some help with changing a PF. I have a file with 3.5 million
records. I have changed the DDS to include a new field at the end of the
record. Does anyone know if it would be quicker to rename the file,
recreate the PF and copy the records from the renamed file to the new
file OR do a CHGPF on the old file.
