Generally I avoid I specs....I just do this...

d myfilefield                   10a                        
d renamedfield                  10a   Overlay(myfilefield) 

Not exactly a rename but you can reference the field by either name....

If I understand the help text correctly, the ISPECS should work in
RPGLE.
If that's what you are doing.  Maybe I'm in left field.

Michael, I could not get a compile w/ that I Spec idea. I should have
mentioned that I code in ILE if at all possible.
