For those folks who typically used one or two leading bytes of a field name to identify the physical file, this gives the capability to strip off those letters. This is particularly useful for the new ability to do the equivalent of COBOL's MOVE CORRESPONDING operation because fields can end up with the same name once the prefix is stripped off. Doug
