This puts me in mind of a letter in the Daily Telegraph a few years ago
from the person responsible for running the officers' mess at an army camp.
He had received a mail shot addressed to "Officers Mess, 1st Battalion ...
" and so on. The letter inside began "Dear Mr Mess,"
