Well, without spewing too much "Good Practices" bs, I see it like this: I am one of those IT guys that can talk to users and managers without scaring them. We are a part of a dying breed, as we can think in technical terms, and translate it to English (Notice I didn't say 'dumb it down' ;-) ). In this way, I sit in on planning meetings, where the real brainstorming is done, and play a part ("Advisor") in the ideas phase of projects. Throughout the course of any given project, I am a sort of "go-between" that works with the technical people, and advises the management team as to the progress, etc. I also do alot of the coding, and technical tasks, but this 'analyst' thing is what seems to be more valuable.
