      Your statement about doing whatever you have to in order to bring home

    Now, assuming you are the same Shannon O'Donnell that is an IBM
    Certified Professional--AS/400 RPG Programmer, and is the author of an
    industry-leading certification test for RPG IV programmers available
    from ReviewNet.net and help compile "The MC Press Desktop Encyclopedia".
    
    Then I'm disappointed.  I would have expected an experienced consultant
    to be able to say NO once in awhile and still feed his kids.
    Particularly if you not only want to feed your kids today, but in 10
    years.
    
    Lastly, for your information;  I'm in my mid 30's, have a BS in Computer
    Science and have been professional (ie. paid) programmer for 15 years.
    
    As far as a sheltered life, I don't think so.  I was laid off from my
    last employer 3 weeks before getting married. Though I still do contract
    work for them.  After being unemployed for 8 weeks, I started at
    Mitsubishi as a contact employee. During which time I got into a few
    highly charged "discussions" with one of the RPG developers about the
    right and wrong way to do things.  Guess what, they hired me anyways and
    the programmer with whom I had the "discussions" is no longer here.
    
    Money is not the only reason I do what I do.
