It depends. Is this subprocedure called multiple times? Then setting on LR may adversely affect performance. For example MyCLpgm ..calls Pgm1 ....calls pgmA ......calls subprocedure several times ..calls Pgm2 Then setting on LR, or the use of OPEN/CLOSE, or even ending that new activation group, might be good when the step that calls the subprocedure multiple times is done running.
