I assume you have a subprocedure that needs to do file i/o? What I have done is, define a DS outside of the subprocedure (Globally), using LIKEREC i.e. D ActionFmt DS LikeRec(AL:*Input) Based(pTemp) Then, inside your P specs, define a DS using LIKEDS: D A DS LikeDS(ActionFmt) Inside your subprocedure, you can read into the A data structure Read AL A; This is how I have accomplished the task. I am sure there are other ways.
