Please be careful when using ERRMSG and/or ERRMSGID. We were having a major program act REALLY weird. When errors were incurred, and an error message was being displayed, (ERRMSG or ERRMSGID) some data that we know should have changed from the previous display was NOT being displayed. What made it even weirder was that using debug, the fields that we know should have changed, DID in fact change, but still displayed the old value. To cut a LONG story short, we discovered that is setting on an indicator for an ERRMSG and/or ERRMSGIND, STOPPED the display buffer from being changed (found this in the IBM manual for ERRMSGID and/or ERRMSGIND) So we changed the program to display error messages using a message subfile, and removed ALL the ERRMSG and ERRMSGIND's from the DDS. The weirdness stopped. Trying to display an error message on my control format of my subfile but it will not display. I have tried to use a standard ERRMSG controlled by an indicator - no luck! I have tried to use a ERRMSGID again controlled by an indicator - no luck! If anyone could give me some help on this I would be most grateful! Thanks!
