It's not the right question. If a company were hiring him to work for them in the US they would have to pay for him at US rates. Their guarantee of quality for the contracted-out work is the agreed bench marks the software has to meet, and that's all they really need. You and I will not beat the competition from India on labour rates, nor on code quality. If we're going to be able to compete with them we will have to leverage the advantages we actually have. We are on the spot where our users are. We can meet them face to face and engage with them directly. We understand the local business environment. For as long as I have been programming professionally, which is 30 years now, that has been the problem.
