Well, technically, The Cycle is not an "intentional infinite loop," so much as a "DO UNTIL LR" loop.
And since when is using something built into the language an "evil masterplan"? It's hardly in the same class as intentionally writing software to be incompatible with older hardware, given that riding around on The Cycle has been an inherent part of RPG since its inception, and non-cycle-based RPG techniques are the relative newcomer.
