I "think" that if it is an externally called program, defined as a Stored 
Procedure via SQL than, yes, it has to be a MODS to "return a result set". 
 I don't think that the DS arrays are supported as a result set yet.  Then 
again, that's not something I do on a daily basis.

Then again - I do see some "update flags" in the V5R3 infocenter that seem 
to allude that the DS arrays are acceptable.
