Are you talking a true date field or numeric or character field? 

If the field is a standard AS/400 type, i.e. a numeric or character, etc, I 
have SQL Function called AS400DATE that converts any numeric or character field 
to a date data type. Once it is in date data type, you can put it out anyway 
you want it.
