QTEMP generally acts as any other library on the 400/iseries/i5. Every job
that runs on the box gets a qtemp library. The persistence of the library
ends at the end of what ever job is running.

This next question is in no way meant to be derogatory, but, have you
received any education around job processing or other specific aspects of
the OS?

I have long suspected that companies are not training their IT staff
properly regarding the OS/400 (et al) environment....

Subject: work files in qtemp

I have been working on a program that will reuqire me to use some sort of
temporary hold file, a friend suggested that I use a work file in qtemp for
the processing of the data...however, I have never used work files before,
let alone in qtemp.

Should I just create the file in my library and then copy it to the qtemp
directory and then process the data deleting the file once I am done? Any
other suggestions would be appreciated.

Douglas
