> From: Steve Richter > > post the code, I want to learn! Cripes. Where do I start? Google: call Java method in RPG. Or: Java RPG interoperability. WDSC will build methods for you: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/index.jsp?topic=/com.i bm.etools.iseries.rse.doc/tasks/teditjavameth.htm Or perhaps try searching the midrange.com archives. Here's one that's about 2 1/2 years old: http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/200210/msg00619.html There are plenty of others. Search on Java method call or Java prototype in the RPG400-L list and you'll get tones of information. Including a nice discussion from a year ago on exception handling: http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/200403/msg00124.html You could also use the V5R3 documentation to get a sense of where the interface is today. Start here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/ic2924/books/c0925 07502.htm#ToC_190 > How does java call an ile procedure? I would like to see how that > works. Can java call the recio functions in ILE to write a green > screen display file record? As far as I know, Steve, this is standard JNI stuff. There are also the Java toolkit commands that automatically support multi-tiered calls, which are even more powerful. Your choice. Honestly, there's a lot to ILE and Java interoperability that you might find useful. Joe
