Personally, I've never understood why anybody would fail to provide one for ANY *PGM intended to be called from the command line or used in a SBMJOB. If the *PGM's parameter structure is simple enough that it CAN be called directly from the command line, then writing a *CMD for it is almost trivial (and yet still makes it a lot easier to use); contrapositively, if a *CMD is non-trivial to write, then its *PGM is almost certainly impossible (or at least impractical) to use from the command line without one. -- JHHL
