One way we have alleviated this to an extent is to send the email out with a generic FROM: address. For instance, customerservice@xxxxxxxxxxxxx will get all rejected email notifications in it's Inbox. Now, this is not a sure fire way to know if mail is getting to your end customer/user, because like Brad said, each company can configure their mail servers how they want.
