Didn't anybody see/like my solution? Oh well. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Buck Calabro Sent: Monday, December 06, 2004 7:48 AM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Use of %DEC with unformatted character numerics > Is the decimal point optional in that it can > be either a period or a comma or is it > optional completely, be a period or be a comma? The decimal point is optional. Full Stop. New concept begins. The decimal separator can be either a comma or a period. Full Stop. There are two separate concepts here. If the string hasn't got a decimal point then the compiler presumes you have a whole number, exactly as if you were to write them out on paper. If I write 'I have 10 figs' no one will assume that I have 1.0 figs or .01 figs. --buck -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
