Time was, not that many years ago (when "dumb terminals" meant the Lear ADM-3 and other "glass teletype" devices), when 3270 and 5250 data streams were a tremendous step up from what most terminals could do. Modern 5250 and 3270 terminals aren't much less sophisticated than X-terminals, and they even have mouse support. And with products like HATS, you can "scrape" a 5250 screen into a remarkably sophisticated browser-based GUI. -- JHHL
