I taught an RPG class at a Community College back in 1997. The first day , as I was showing the class some code, a student raises his hand and says "How do you create buttons ?". I knew I was in for a long semester ! -----Original Message----- From: Jon Paris [mailto:Jon.Paris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2004 3:41 PM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: New RPG programmers >> Now there is IBM's VARPG and ASNA's VRPG, but neither get much press and both cost $$. Hate to contradict you but VARPG is part of the compiler package. If you own an RPG compiler and SEU etc. then you already own VARPG. It is packaged with the WDSc tools and as of the current release (V5.1.2) can be installed separately along with CODE. Not that it will generate any more programmers but some schools that have tried it find that the kids are more enthused over RPG when the do VARPG and web type programming. It is the old "teach 'em nothing but green screen" attitude that turns the students off.
