I have never attended Common.

However, several RPG World attendees I spoke with had, and said they liked
RPG World better.

Some of the reasons cited included:
Smaller - easier to get their questions answered, or clarification
given when unclear. Got to meet presenters. Friendlier interaction between
attendees.
Less expensive - hotel rates were considerably less, can't speak of
actual conference charges.
Closer to home - obviously depends on where one lives.

The classroom type training I attended was great.

One thing I found particularly nice was the repetition of sessions at the
end of the conference. The sessions to be repeated were chosen by the
attendee votes. This allowed one to attend a session that had conflicted
with a 'first choice' for that time block.

Learned a great deal while having a great time.

I'll go again.
