The entire benchmarking framework as well as the test programs themselves will be freely available over at the IAAI project (http://forums.plutabrothers.com/IAAI), probably early next week. This is all part of the IAAI project, and so go join up over there and hop on the bandwagon! Currently, I'm running on a little model 270 using V5R1, and I have no idea what happens when you crank it up to V5R3 on a big box. But the framework has a place where you can define your machine, and hopefully by the time I post the library for download is will also have the ability to generate a simple XML file to upload results and I'll start compiling them. There are so many variables that need to be considered. For example, my native I/O test program has the file set up as output - the results would likely change if it were an input/add file. As the benchmarks progress, it would be interesting to see the results of the UNIQUE keyword, or of having 20 logical views, or a trigger. I also want to see if I can't include Java programs in the mix. Eventually, I'd like to compare basic business functions in Java vs. RPG: things like calculations and comparisons. It should be quite interesting. But I need people to help write the test programs in order to make sure the testing isn't skewed by the bias of the test writers. Joe
